Clarkson Evans, the UK’s leading electrical contractor for new homes, has installed GL’s EV-IQ on numerous sites around the country as well as at their headquarters in Staverton near Cheltenham.
The Gloucestershire-based electrical contractor wires new homes nationwide and has renewable technologies at the heart of its expansion plans. It now offers the Smart EV-IQ in its range of EV charging point solutions, recommending them to house builders for new home developments and selecting them as the preferred charger for retrofit works on housing sites.
GL has a longstanding partnership with Clarkson Evans, having supplied a full range of lighting and smoke alarms for new build homes for over 20 years. In the last year, Clarkson Evans has installed over 300 EV-IQ charging points and this volume is set to grow as electric vehicle charging solutions become ever more sought after.

Tim Bisp, Commercial Director at Clarkson Evans, explains that recent changes to the Building Regulations will make a big difference to the market for EV chargers. “Part S of the Building Regulations requires provision for charging electric vehicles at home so installing car chargers is set to become standard practice in new homes over the next couple of years”, said Tim. “We have offered PV and EV installations to our housebuilder customers for many years but we’re planning for a huge increase in demand and our partnership with GL will help us meet this.”
